House of Heroes playing Silent Night

Although this living room looks pretty cozy, I wonder when this video of House of Heroes playing “Silent Night” was shot. For the sake of this blog entry, I’ll assume that it was shot in August.

Imagine what the neighbors thought when they drove by the house where this film was taken, only to see a Christmas tree lit up in the window!

Personally, if I was one of the neighbors, I would have gotten excited and asked my wife if we could put ours up as well. When it comes to Christmas, I’m a lot like “Buddy the Elf.”

Mat Kearney Concert Footage from Chicago

About five years ago, I had dinner with Mat Kearney at a Benihana-like restaurant right outside of Chicago. Looking at the time line of events, it’s obvious now that my dinner with him occurred shortly after he had met with the people behind Aware Records about taking his Independent Christian record deal Mainstream — and in a huge way.

He was so nervous as he told me about how a “big opportunity” was on the horizon and that he was fearful that the followers that he had built up in the Christian music world would abandon him. He looked to me for advice and I encouraged him to remain true to himself — even if that meant alienating a fan or two. Look at Mat now! He’s owning the album sales and radio airplay charts — Christian and mainstream alike!
